Many thanks for all the positive comments on last week’s blog on the Drum Horse ‘Major Spartacus’.  This is an oil on fine linen head study of this amazing horse and it is the second study I have done.  The first one was donated to the Household Cavalry Charity which raises money for soldiers who are injured in war zones for rehabilitation and family help.   Lt. Col. Dan Hughes who was the CO of the Cavalry at the time was organising his fund raising ‘Cavalry Fizz’ which took place at the Knightsbridge Barracks, with Christies of London in charge of the raffle of gifts and promises.  When I arrived at the Barracks, the lads were on parade in Full Dress Order and it was a splendid sight it was to see.  The evening was a great success and I was well looked after by the fine young officers who were charm itself looking after all the guests.  When it was time to catch the last train home, a taxi was called and I was escorted safely by a lovely young man, my hand kissed and away I went, back home safe and sound.  The painting you see here is the second one I worked just for me and I can never sell it, so he lives with me and is a reminder of how proud we should be of these fine military men. Limited edition canvas prints will be available later this year.  The whole collection of military paintings are on my website:
